Los caprichos aún florecen (2025) :
Series of paintings associated with original engravings from Goya’s “Los caprichos.”
These works on paper reveal the engravings through forms that sometimes echo traditional Maori symbolism associated with the idea of transmission or transgenerational experience, in order to emphasize the contemporary resonance of the themes addressed by the Spanish artist at the very end of the 18th century, and their universality.
The choice of flowers that make up the veil of detail is linked to their respective symbolism, or to tradition, as here with roses for naive public acclamation :
