about

Laurent is a Franco-Ontarian visual artist settled in Toronto/Tkaronto, Canada.

He attended Liberal Arts classes in Belgium (Brussels and Ghent) and studied European Art History in Spain (Madrid)

Laurent’s artworks result from a unique combination of characteristic pictorial elements from three of his regions of origin: the Mille-fleurs from France and Flanders, and the Polynesian Tattoo.

By covering all his paintings with monochromatic and detailed floral patterns, whose meticulous creation requires time and patience, Laurent tries to convey the sensations experienced by people with Sensory Processing Sensitivity, seeking to represent the cognitive saturation from dealing with overwhelming and complex thoughts.

Reclaiming one’s Cultural Heritage :

Laurent enhances the use of Polynesian symbols, traditionally combined to create Tattoo, to figure narrative elements answering contemporary issues.

Focusing his work on identities and highlighting the cross-cultural dialogue between the various aspects of his heritage (Laurent is of Polynesian, French, Belgian, Dutch, Italian, German, Danish, East Asian and British descent), he chooses within a wide variety of themes and researches including colonialism, environmental issues or Love, to demonstrate the versatility of his visual identity, and to provide various messages of inclusivity and understanding of today’s society.

Committed to supporting the representation of human and cultural diversity in the Arts, Laurent has a solid experience in Community Art and participatory artistic creation, mostly developed in Colombia and Canada.

He is a member of the LunARC Team as minorities and unrepresented peoples advocate, conducting the creation and inclusive curation of Humanity’s Art Gallery settled on the Moon with NASA and Firefly Aerospace on Moon Mission 1 and 2 that started in 2025.

Laurent is recipient of the Toronto Arts Foundation and RBC Newcomer Arts Award 2022.
